Longboat Key home of Ferrante & Teicher pianist for sale; duo had numerous easy listening hits in the 1960s

A Longboat Key penthouse condominium associated with a musical partnership that produced numerous gold and platinum records could be yours for $2.3 million.

Coldwell Banker has acquired the listing for the 2,500-square-foot unit at the Longboat Key Club belonging to the widow of Arthur Ferrante of Ferrante & Teicher.

The piano duo were one of the top easy listening acts of the 1960s with the singles “Theme From The Apartment,” “Exodus,” “Tonight” and “Midnight Cowboy” all reaching the Top 10 on Billboard's pop chart.

Ferrante & Teicher's instrumental version of the Bob Dylan country tune "Lay Lady Lay" would be the duo's final charting single in 1970.

Arthur Ferrante died on Sept. 19, 2009, at age 88.

The condo at 601 Longboat Club Road (pictured above) has three bedrooms and three baths with views of the Gulf of Mexico.

"It's like walking into a studio back in time with all the gold and platinum records," said Lynne Koy of Coldwell Banker. "It's just a magnificent place with 360 degree views of Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico."

In 2009, the buildings and property underwent $12 million in renovations.
