Professional artists with experience are invited to apply to the Bradenton Central Community Redevelopment Authority to design and build exterior art for the entrance to the Save-A-Lot grocery store to be built at Minnie L Rogers Plaza and Retail Center, 201 13th Ave., and/or a free standing panel for a bus shelter on the site.

This location has 75 years of documented history as the site of an African-American educational, recreational, and community facility. It is particularly linked to the West Bradenton Womans Club, of which Minnie Rogers was a key founder and leader.

Imaginative approaches are sought to interpret the African-American history of the site in a free standing form and materials that will be permanent in the Florida environment. Eligible artists must have a body of relevant, professional work and an affinity for working with historical source material.  Artists may apply for one or both.

For detailed description of the project and information on how to apply go to http://www.bradentonccra.com/#!minutes-budgets-notices/c17hk.

The application deadline is Feb. 28.
